Dead Galaxy S4 help.

I need help with my mom's dead Samsung Galaxy S4. It won't turn on, doesn't show that it's charging, but nothing was wrong yesterday. It did the same thing about a month ago, but letting it sit overnight solved the issue. Not this time. Does anyone know of a way I can get the data off? I would like the phone to work for at least a couple days, but she can do without it if she must. It is her company's emergency hotline phone, if that tells how important the data is. Also, would putting the SIM card in another identical phone allow SMS messages to be received on that phone with the same number as the dead one? Thanks for any help!

You can put the sim card in any other phone tham it fits in and all the sms messages and incoming calls should just come in like normal

Ok, thanks. I'll see if the spare phone they have works (it may have a dead charging port).
