This is the current build im going with and am pretty happy with it, but would still like others thoughts and opinions on it. Now i know that many people are gonna say i picked a super expensive mobo, but all the other AM4 compatible ones had reviews that made me scared to buy that mobo. But if i could find a cheaper, promising mobo, id be able to get a gtx 1070. But any advice is appreciated. Thx!

Devastator II is pretty good keyboard/mouse combo (using it right now) but it can get slightly annoying if you plan on using linux.

You don't need the anti-static wrist strap, but you do you.

Might want to look into faster wifi adapter if you constantly need to download/upload. Wifi-N is pretty old by now, and pretty sure only support 2.4 GHz.

If you can spare the money go for at least a 240GB SSD. Running a 120GB right now, and it just seems to start filling up with junk. That extra 120GB will give you lots of extra breathing room.

@0ld_Chicken you seem to be online. Does this post need to be moved?

Want to know which mobo to get?

Spoiler

Choose whatever you need. Any more, you're wasting your money. Any less, and you don't get the features you need.

Only you know what you need to do with your computer, so nobody's really qualified to answer this question except for you.

I was stupid and didn't actually pay that much attention to the motherboard.

You've got a pretty high end one and comes with integrated dual-band 802.11ac (Wifi-AC), which is loads faster than the 802.11n.

So really, you don't need to buy a wifi adapter at all, your mobo's got you.

You don't need a X370 motherboard unless you want SLI support. You can probably save some money by buying a B350 board and the 100+ $ you save can be used for a bigger SSD or a better GPU.

When I was building my PC, I was recommended the Sandisk Plus (https://pcpartpicker.com/product/8jH48d/sandisk-ssd-plus-240gb-25-solid-state-drive-sdssda-240g-g26).

Not cheaper, but you could use the money you saved from the wireless card to upgrade your SSD.

What do you mean by problems? Are you talking about reviews? I don't think you can judge a motherboard for such a new platform like Ryzen by reviews. Many new AM4 motherboards caused trouble for at least one person and this person wrote a bad review. But the thing is that you should be fine with almost any decent quality ryzen board by now. But remember checking the QVL of the specific bourd you're looking at to check if your RAM will work properly.

Keep in mind that you can get some problems with every AM4 motherboard, no matter how expensive it is. But by now many problems should be fixed. :)

I guess this is you first build but you dont have to be scared about the motherboard. What should happen? In almost every case it just works and if it doesn't its either a problem that is easy to fix or you have to return the board and you'll get a new one. There is just no reason to pair a 250$ board with an R5 1600. This is just a waste of money. Just get a cheaper board, personally I like the ones from ASUS - but you always have to check out the specific model- and if you have any problems which you can't fix by yourself, just make a forum thread about it or return it. This will save you at least 100$.
