Quick Question: How much thermal paste on gpu?

That will be enough. Usually a blob the size of a cooked grain of rice is enough.

That's for CPUs, GPUs can take more. I'd even give this one more since the heatspreader is quite large.

Just out of interest, what other system specs are you running with that 560? And why still a 560?

You already have enough, as it does seem to be more than a grain of rice. With GPU dies, they are usually a fair bit larger, but this one isnt that large (like a 1080) so you will be fine. Just check temps after installation, and if they're better than pre-thermal paste replacement, you have been successful.

Its not in use anymore. I replaced it with an rx480 a while ago. I was painting the shroud for fun. I'm making a post about it rn.

FloRolf why you running your 2600K stock? Its overclockable, a little old so overclocking would keep it competitive, and help it keep up with a GTX 1080.

I even have a h100i GTX on it

But i can't really since i'm using an ITX case and the thing already gets up to 80°C on stock. And yeah, on 1080p the CPU is a huge bottleneck for the 1080 ^^

It's supposed to be a UWQHD/4K machine though so the CPU is still very good and doesn't bottleneck at all.

That temp sounds awfully high with a liquid cooler, especially a 240. Is there something wrong with thermal paste? Or maybe somehow the cooler isnt seated correctly? Because even in an ITX case that is rather unfortunate. My 6600K at 4.5 1.296 Vcore stays at around 60-65C load cooled by a Hyper 212 EVO. I realize that yours is an older and different model of CPU, but it shouldnt be that crazy different.

Well in normal load like gaming it's "only" about 70°C but i'm running F@H quite often and that'd overheat like shit.

I don't know really. It's not exactly the H100i's fault because before that i had an H100 that was similar. And i even had a huge ass ATX case.

Maybe i just got a shitty CPU. It also doesn't OC as good as other 2600ks. Mine only went up to 4.7ghz before being unstable. Usually you can hit 5ghz with decent cooling.

 

My current plan is to get a new CPU in November and then use the 2600k in an HTPC together with either my 1080 or a newer, better card so i can play on my 4k TV.

Then use the new components for my actual setup.

Planning high end for no reason

Whatever X299 or ryzen has to offer at the time. And then I'll step up to mitx again as well to allow for sli.
