Hey, I'm trying to figure out how to raise my ram clock to it's default spec. It's Vengeance, and supposed to be 2400mhz 16 16 16 39, but it's downclocked to 2133 15 15 15 36. I activated the XMP profile for 2400, and I can't boot, can't even load the bios until I clear CMOS. I'm running an ASRock B350 Pro4 on 2.50 (latest) bios. And it even says that Corsair 2400 is supported. I also tried bumping the voltage to 1.35, but didn't do anything different. The only thing I haven't tried is under "DRAM settings" in an entirely different settings menu, it says "DRAM overclock" either on Auto or Enabled, and it's on Auto. Would that setting be relevant?

Ram speed is massive for Ryzen from what I've been hearing, so I just want to at least hit 2400mhz. People are getting to 2933 easily, so should be doable :/

Ryzen 7 2700x, MSI Gaming X RX 480 8gb, Asus ROG X470 Gaming, 2x8gb Corsair Vengeance LPX 3000, 120gb Kingston SSD (Boot) + 1TB Seagate Barracuda.

Enable XMP, bump DDR voltage to 1.35v as you have then go in and enter your ram's timings manually and try that. Also bump the SOC voltage to 1.2v

As a note, 3200mhz is the sweet spot for Ryzen, 3600mhz even better but quite a cost jump

I am using Ryzen 1800x with Asus Hero Vi & Gskill 3000 C14 ram.

My ram stock ratings are - 14-14-14-34 / 3000 Mhz / 1.35 Volt.

But its not stable at 14-14-14-34 / 3000 Mhz or 3200 Mhz or 2933 Mhz / 1.35 Volt. After fresh powers up it resets the frequency to 2133.

1) Its stable at 16-16-16-39 / 3200 Mhz / 1.35 Volt.I conclude to this by keeping the timing as auto, and manually giving voltage to 1.35 and frequency to 3200.However Post issue is there. When I am powering up the pc from scratch it resets once then runs fine at 16-16-16-39 / 3200 Mhz / 1.35 Volt.

2) Its stable at 14-14-14-34 / 2666 Mhz / 1.35 Volt.I conclude to this by  manually giving voltage to 1.35 and frequency to 2666.However Post issue is there. When I am powering up the pc from scratch it resets once then runs fine at 14-14-14-34 / 2666 Mhz / 1.35 Volt.

So basically it cannot handle tight timings with higher frequencies.

Which option is safe to use 2666 or 3200 as per above details? Is it safe to use 24x7 ?

I tried doing it manually, no luck. Also I can't find SOC voltage anywhere. I'm using an ASRock B350 board, their UI seems so bare for options. I can't even find LLC anywhere either. But I tried something else. I looked in the manual for more information, and it gave me a ram start about dual rank and single rank. I placed my ram in A1 and A2, but apparently you'd use A2 and B2 for dual ranked memory, and higher clocks. I don't understand the chart and I'm just winging it (never overclocked ram before). So I tried A2 and B2 instead, it recognized it as 2400 with my correct timings, but after 30 seconds on the Windows desktop, it froze. I reset and try again, this time I got a blue screen (can't remember, but google told me it's a more generic error with lots of causes). So this time I went back into bios and upped the v to 1.35, and I got black screen, no bios. It then detected it as 2133, I booted, and it froze at the login screen. After that I just placed it back in A1 and A2, and I'm booted fine with 2133.

Any idea what that's about? :S Here's the chart. My ram has 0 information on the box about if it's dual or single ranked.

Seriously try reseating the CPU - I had issues with mine when first built it, things like the hang ups and freezes or refusing to boot in dual channel. Reseating the CPU worked

Really..? Even if everything is otherwise functioning normal? .-.

And is there any way to tell if my ram is single or dual ranked without looking under the heatsinks? There's no info on Amazon

generally only 16gb sticks are dual banked. Did you try a reseat?

Thanks for the suggestion, it worked :) I was having some game issues too, so I just wiped Windows completely and re-installed. Afterwards I reseated the CPU and put slightly less slack on the cooler. Ram's been running solid at 2400mhz 16,16,16,39 in dual channel. Been fine through a firestrike run, 2 cinebench runs, and about 45 minutes on prime large FFTs. Strange though, never thought simply re-seating the CPU would fix a problem like that. Thanks for the help, finally everything's running as smooth as I wanted :D
