*Update* Ghetto Case Mod

SlipperyPete

Hi guys. Been working up to this mod for a long time but im broke so im going about this as ghetto as possible. I have an old dell case i love and want to move my pc into.

20170507_103436.thumb.jpg.4d0c883b060441a3dbaceded40640fc4.jpg

I am going to add a side panel window, open some ventilation on the top and paint it.

I am going to add a drive cage.

I am going to cut out the circular dell logo on the side an put the window there.

I am going to paint it in two tones, royal blue and black. The parts outlined blue i will paint blue and the red outline shows the part im going to paint black.

Since i have no tools to speak of the window is gonna be cut out ghetto as fuck and the top vents i will wait on until later.

To cut out the side panel i have been using an awl and a hammer to punch holes in a circle. I am getting the holes closer and closer until i can break the (steel?) and then sand down the rough edges.

20170512_174322.thumb.jpg.0d4f7ea5ac36f806794abf14d7e3b733.jpg

Once i get the large circle punched out (Its hard work and is taking while) i  will use plexi glass over the opening from the inside, paint the case and add some rgb strips i have with blue LED fans

Please give your thoughts or suggestions. Thanks :)

Looks very ghetto indeed :P (not a bad thing though). I strongly encourage you to buy some metal files, they are fairly cheap and are far better than sanding paper to finish up rough metal edges.

Sorry for the late update the past few days have been some work. I finished (almost need to do some more painting) the case mod and built a new desk :) @TheCamba

case mod i finished the side panel and filed down the sharp parts and added a plexiglass sheet for a window using double sided tape. The cable managment is messy due to no way to route cables so not sure if im gonna drill out the rivets and do a more serious mod but thats a ways off.

My dad and i decided to build me a desk for when im home (from college) as an upgrade from the old shitty one i had.

i painted the desk pieces with white primer to add contrast from everything else being black on my setup. I left the legs unpainted as i think it adds a nice workshop feel.

I approve the desk upgrade.  Way better than what I currently have.  Need to have a decent desk to support all those monitors.

That desk setup is nice. I honestly want a setup like that over my real desk.

Thanks for the praise (my dad was very pleased to hear it)

my old setup was a very small desk that could fit one monitor. i took a thomas the tank engine train table and took the table top part off (it was made to come out) and put it on top of the terrible desk. this table was from my childhood and i hope to give it and all my trains(i had a sizeable set) to my own children one day so i was very nervous about this wobbly piece of shit desk somehow damaging a fond piece of my childhood. all worked out well and the table top is still in great condition :)
