I have a i5-6600K, GTX 980 and Gigabyte Z270X Ultra Gaming mobo. Without pulling out the GPU, can I force my PC to use the iGPU while I am installing kubuntu (no drivers built-in)? I saw an option in the BIOS under chipset called "Internal Graphics" that was on auto but could also be set to enabled or disabled, is it this I need?

If you plug your display into your motherboard it should work

Na, it doesn't. Even if I pull out the power cables from my GPU (and keep it plugged into the motherboard) it still tries to use the GPU

Yes, if you set it to enabled you should be able to use it while the graphics card is present.

Then just remove the GPU. It tries to use the GPU because it is still installed in the machine.
