USB stick won't work for my pc, but will in others.

So I have two or three usb sticks that won't work in my PC. I put them in and it makes the sound when windows detects a usb. Nothing shows up on the this pc section.
In device manager the usb is there and it says the deice is working properly. I've gone to dis management and none of the sticks I try show up in there, not even as an allocated space.
When I try these sticks on my partners old falling to bits laptop and my daughters pc, they work fine straight away.

I've formatted and reinstalled windows and even formatted the sticks on each of the computers they work on. They even work on the TV too.
I went out and bought a brand new stick and that works so I can't get my head around it.
I've also tried booting from the usb sticks but I get a blue screen, which tells me it's something not inside of windows.

I've had the stick left in for about 15 minutes and it's now read it... Dunno what's going on.

Likely Window's Mass Storage drivers were downloading and installing very slowly. It seems no matter how fast your PC is, Windows Update takes it's time. :)

Never dismiss a possible solution because of a respected brand.

Once the device installed though, I took it out and put it back in and again it took about 15 minutes.
