GTX 1080 TI FE Hybrid

So I have a hybrid kit coming in for my 1080 TI FE this week. (I got the 1070/1080 model of cooler - EVGA 400-HY-5188-B1). I'm just wondering how good the thermal paste that comes pre-applied is and if I should plan on using aftermarket paste? Thanks!

im not sure if that version will work as they do make one specifcally for the Ti and titan i think the pcb is slightly different

GamersNexus did one with that model actually and everything lined up good for them.

im talking about the shroud that it comes with my night fit right and would have to do some slight modification like they did

The reason I didn't get the specific one is because it is $40 USD more and has like $50 USD in shipping charges. Otherwise, I would have.

no i have not, its just why would they make one specifically for a card when one they already have works?

I think its just because, like you said, the shroud for the 1070/1080 hybrid does not fit the 1080 TI. However, the mounting holes are the same. I think the just did a 1080 TI specific one for aesthetic reasons.

i installed the Hybrid cooler on my 1070 a few months ago. i just used the thermal paste that was pre-applied. though i'll admit, i did smear some of it off because it was a PITA to get the coldplate to align properly 

 

also i'm not sure if they changed the radiator fan, but it runs at full speed whether you plug it to the GPU itself or on your mobo headers. i recommend getting a 3rd party fan to reduce noise. oh, and try getting some anti-vibration mounts for the radiator mount

And did you find it worked well? Also, yeah, I have two fans I'm gonna be using and I have a Y-Splitter to have Push-pull.
