No point in buying an old CPU new

in real value a 4770k would cost around 180$ new because it's As good as the 1500x. If you buy one for 300$ you are a fool

Used they are still up there, about $250. New around $419. I found a few 4790K's for $285 "Buy it Now" which surprised me a bit, but they are essentially the same chip, just with a higher out of the box speed. OC'd they both top out the same. Heck, the 3770k's are all just over $200 still.

This is what drives me nuts about intel. If a 3770 is 1-3% behind a 4770 @ equal overclocks, 7-11% behind 6700k's, and 10-14% behind 7700k's (Again, with the 6's and 7's I attribute at least 5% of that to ddr4 over ddr3); it's great that they made such great chips back then, but the new chips should be leaps and bounds ahead of what they are, especially when price is considered. Charging more than original MSRP for a new 4770k is ludicrous. That's why they switch mobos so often, so they can still charge stupid prices for people who can't (or do not want) to switch motherboards and RAM. Jerks.

No

it sells for 400$ new, you could get a better CPU on a newer platform for cheaper.

The 4770k is about the same as a 1500x, are you willing to pay 400$ for something worth 180$?

So where can i find them?I dont know any website where i can find a used cpu or graphic card.And anyway how can i trust the old owner about the "overclocked cpu" fact?I am not from USA btw i live in Greece so there may be shipping problems.

eBay

overclocking very very very rarely damages a CPU.

@its.the.doc

Also, think about how many PC's you see in real life. 90% of the things you see on eBay are from distributors/companies. Out of all those PC's you see, how many do you think have been overclocked at all? Not the ones from companies. Say 5% were overclocked out of the private sales. So .5% might have been OC'd. Out of those, how many were heavily oc'd? Probably not many. Most likely with a play it safe tool to bump it up a tiny bit.

That wouldn't worry me at all. Actually, if I was in the market for a 4770k and I saw "OC'd to 4.6", I wouldn't think "Crap, it was over-clocked." I'd think "Sweet, I am getting some decent silicon! I wonder if I can get it to 4.7..."

I have never bought something from ebay.How can i trust what i see?Do you have any advice or any tricks that you use before you buy something like that?

Yes, if you do not have the product in 3 weeks, no matter what the seller says, file a form and let eBay know. It will freeze the amount of your purchase in the other person's account. If there is not enough in the seller's account they will still reimburse you the difference. If you wait over 30 days to complain, you are screwed. You then have 30 days from receiving the item to complain to eBay if the item is non-working or not as described. They handle most of it, you just have to do things within a certain time to protect yourself. I've only had 1 issue, and it was from waiting too long to complain as the seller kept assuring me the card was in customs here, then here, then...finally after 6 weeks I complained, and they said "Sorry, you are out %550 bucks. You only have 30 days to file". I was pissed, but it taught me a lesson.
