I just buy a headset adapter so i can use the mic in my headset to my pc....

But i have some problems, the mic is recognized but when i speak or making some noise the green bar didn't move (the one in recording devices).

But when i push  the mute button the green bar moving just like a zap once per press...

Then, i try the with the same adapter and headset to my laptop... And it works fine (both the mic and sound)...

So can anyone tell me what the problem that cause my pc cannot using the mic?....

Headset = apple phone's headset

Sorry for bad english :(

How about buying a Mac :D?

Away from being sarcastic, you need to buy a new adapter. That's the cost of not using Apple products in a full set.

Apple's headphones use a non standard microphone implementation through an extra contact on the jack. You won't be able to use it on most computers (if any apart from Apple's).

thats not non-standad its 3/4 pole just like every other phone headset

the extra contact is just for the mic

the problem is most likely with the adapter

Apple do not employ some wizard technology,

because your headphones have inline mic controls, there is an extra contact, for the microphone.

on a desktop PC, the ports are usually split into headphones out and mic in (green and pink respectively) due to this, on the headphone out, the extra contact for microphone in, isn't being used, this the mic will not work.

the reason your laptop accepts the mic in. Is because the jack is a combo port with IN/OUT. And accepts the extra contact. Therefore working

It's a non standard TRRS implementation on the 3.5 standard

You audio jack may not be a mic/speaker combo port meaning that it doesn't matter what you plug in the mic will not work. Buy a cheap USB sound card they're super cheap and will solve your problem.

Never said it was standard, just pointing out the extra contact and the combo port

thanks for reiterating what I said
