Hello everyone,

I'm currently in the process of selecting part for my second PC build, I have a 1000 - 1150 euros budget (in France). I'm planning on building a mini ITX computer in the node202 case and I had a few question regarding the hardware I have because I dont have a lot of experience in regards to mini ITX builds.

Here is the part list :

85.89     Node 202 fractal
64.69     Crucial 8 GB DDR4
71.90     Corsair Hydro Series H55 120mm    (not sure I migth go with air cooling at the begining)
61.88     SilverStone  SFX - 450W
--.--        Hdd 1 T/b (already have one)

345.45   GeForce GTX 1070 Mini ITX OC 8GB

254.90    AMD Ryzen 5 1600X

total rigth now = 884.71 euros

motherboard ????

additional fan if needed?

I'm going to use this system for a lot of different task : gaming, regular browsing, web programming, heavy application programming and sometimes 3D modeling and video/picture editing (an average ofonce a month) so it needs to be able to keep up. Ideally it can handle 2 IDE at the same time  + chrome + spotify or a game + chrome + spotify.

I already have monitors and peripherals so I don't need those at least.

So here are the questions :

 - is the power supply good enough?

 - Are there any mini itx board that I can use with a ryzen 5?

 - is cheap ram like the one i choose a problem or should I go for more ram?

-Also, any advice for mini itx build? It's my first one so any input is good!

Thanks in advance

I would suggest this one from Asus.

https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/PRIME-A320M-K/

ASUS Prime A320M-K AMD Ryzen AM4 DDR4 HDMI VGA M.2 USB 3.1 Micro-ATX A320 Motherboard

  • Powered by AMD® Ryzen™ AM4 and 7th generation Athlon™ processors to maximize connectivity and speed with NVMe M.2, support for 32GB of DDR4, USB 3.1 and Gigabit LAN
  • 5X Protection III Hardware-level safeguards provide component longevity and reliability
  • Patent-pending SafeSlot Core fortified PCIe slot prevents damage from heavyweight GPUs
  • FanXpert delivers advanced fan controls for optimized cooling
  • Industry-leading 8-channel HD audio driven by Japanese capacitors features an onboard LED-illuminated design

Nothing works like good ole 'cut and paste'.

Go for 16GB high speed RAM

What PSU model is it?

Biostar has a few ITX Ryzen mobos. You should wait for more models from other brands.

Also, an OCed 1600 is on par with 1600X, get 1600 instead. Moreover, it has lower TDP which is crucial in a SFF build as less heat is generated in the small case which lacks ventilation

Desktop specs:

It doesn't support overclocking

I thougth the node 202 only accepted mini ITX board and not micro ITX? I looked around but found 0 mini itx board compatible with ryzen but thanks anyway for the suggestion!

Yeah That's what I thougth, I'm going to upgrade to 16 GB

For the PSU It's a SilverStone SST-ST45SF v 3.0 - SFX Series, 450W 80 Plus Bronze PC Power Supply, Low Noise 120mm which I think is enough for what I have but I'm not 100% sure

For the motherboard I'm going to wait another month as you said until there are more of them available.

And for the CPU I migth go with your suggestion, I'm not fixed on what to do yet

Thanks!

Silverstone SFX Bronze is not that great. Go for Silverstone Gold SFX like these:

However, the best SFX PSU in the market (currently) is Corsair SF series:

Sorry to disappoint.  The choices of a micro ATX AM4 board from Asus are extremely limited.

There are two in PCPP?
