Looking to build a new pc, not high end by any means, wanna overclock a lil, currently using an i3 4170 paired with a 750ti

Ive been looking at 7600k i5 but arguments for the 1400 r5 are making me think of going ryzen, looking to pair with an rx580/570 but open to suggestions, pretty certain 8 gb of ram would be enough but could always upgrade to 16 later, other parts would be standardof course, got my keyboard mouse and monitor so not included in the price, not a tight budget but just under 1000$ would be appreciated, thank you if you can help :)

tbh haswell is still great for gaming. just get an i7 47xx/57xx or e3 123x v3 and a better gpu, no need to go for ryzen or kabylake.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X Heatsink: Gelid Phantom Black GPU: Palit RTX 3060 Ti Dual RAM: Corsair DDR4 2x8GB 3000Mhz mobo: Asus X570-P case: Fractal Design Define C PSU: Superflower Leadex Gold 650W

Not sure if you need storage or not, but included anyway

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/3wy7BP 1600 + 580 for $909 with rebates, doesn't include OS but you can get for 20-30

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/8bTR8K Or a 1600 + 1070 for $1050, knock it down to 8gbs ram and it'd be 1k, could go for a cheaper case to get it under.

So is that a defo no to the 7600k?

The 1400 and 7600k should not even be compared as they are no where near the same price. the 7600k it $240 whereas the 6 core 12 thread 1600 is $219 (+another $20 saving as it comes with a decent stock cooler).  This absolutely slays the 7600k at below the 7600ks price point.

I have edited the above to be more truthful, the honest truth is no one should be buying an i5 in 2017 as they are fully saturated with only 4 threads, on an aging platform with absolutely no future. New builds you should either go R5, R7 or i7. 4 threads is already close to not enough (i5s are pegged at 95-100% usage in modern titles already and therefore have no where to go in future titles). When you factor in the price difference between the i7 and R5 the way to go and remain on budget in 2017 is the R5 1600.

Do you mean build guides?

I don't post builds if there are already good ones in the thread as it clogs it up and they appear repetitive.

@RKRiley has a good one above so I wasn't going to post one this time :P

EDIT: Although upon further inspection I wouldn't trust that motherboard as far as I could throw it... Cheap and MSI (MSI having slow POSTs with their AM4 BIOS) so I'd go for a different mobo that's all.
