X99 chipset future?

I currently have an X99 motherboard (see PC specs in my signature).

Right now I don't need an upgrade to my CPU however I was wondering how the upgrade path is. Is Intel still making chips for X99 motherboards? I haven't seen any recently.

  • CPU = i7 5930k
  • Cooler = Corsair H100i
  • RAM = Dominator Platinum 32GB DDR4-2666

no, they're moving to x299 next.

hedt architectures last 2 generations then get pushed out by intel, look at x79 and x58 as an example

your best bet is an ES Xeon from eBay, it's probably the best value on that platform

idk

That's a little much, when the time comes to upgrade my current CPU, I might just sell my build to a friend and make a new RGB rig. :P

Xeons are REALLY good value. Like 8-14c with HT, but the clockspeed is slow and they can't be OC'd - but if you get one with a high turbo you can lock it to the highest turbo multiplier.

idk

It's still good for now, and should be for next few years.

But there isn't any future with X99 platform anymore.

Samsung EVO 960 M.2 250GB | Samsung EVO 860 PRO 512GB | 4x Be Quiet! Silent Wings 140mm fans
