Hi everyone,

I have some upgrades in mind for my build and I'm wondering if they would be worth it. I'm also open to any suggestions you guys have! I mainly use my PC for coding (school work, projects, etc.), gaming (use console more though), general usage (web, docs, etc.). I also use virtual machines for some work.

My current build is :

CPU: Intel i5-4670K

Cooler: Noctua NH-U9S

Motherboard: Asus Z97I-Plus

Memory: Corsair Vengeance LP (8GB x 2)

Storage: Samsung 840 EVO 250GB

Storage: Seagate 2TB SSHD

GPU: GTX 1070 FE

Case: Ncase M1

PSU: Corsair SF 450

Displays: Dell U2414H x 2

My main upgrade in mind is about the monitors. Would an ultrawide be worth the upgrade over two 1080P panels? I want improved aesthetics/cleanliness for my desk setup while not losing productivity and I'm also intrigued by the gaming experience on it.

My second upgrade is regarding storage, I upgraded to the Ncase M1 last year and having my large 3.5" HDD in there takes up a lot of room. I'm thinking a 250GB NVME m.2 SSD and a 1TB SSD for storage/games would be more ideal in this case. Would my motherboard support the speeds provided by the latest NVME SSDs?

Third and last, is it time for me to upgrade my CPU/Motherboard to support the faster storage drives above? The 4670K is still very fast for me and I'm only slightly overclocking it.

I can only say something usefull about your third upgrade. Considering your workload and you running VM's, I would consider at least a Ryzen R7 1700. Moar cores could benefit there.

Just read RIGHT over that part :P

For storage and games, you don't need a NVMe SSD. Get a good SATA SSD like 850 EVO and you're good to go.

I suggest you to get a used haswell i7 as i5 will start to age after a few years due to lack of cores/threads
