This is the last time I post this, I promise.

Anyways, here is the pcpp link:

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/YyDjQV

Currently, I have a 1080p 144Hz monitor, but I plan on buying a 4k monitor in a year or two.

At the moment I only play CS:GO, since that's basicly all my PC (laptop with 850m and i7 4710HQ) can handle, and the reason I want a PC this powerful is so I can play AAA games at the highest settings my monitor will allow (and a little* more).

I don't plan on doing any content creation, but chose Ryzen so that I have the option if I ever change my mind (It's a great gaming CPU anyways, it's just that the 7700(k) is a little better)

I need at least 1x DisplayPort and 1x HDMI port

Anything I should change? How does the Asus STRIX 1080Ti perform against other 1080Tis?

I will be adding more case fans, an NZXT Kraken x62 or x52 (still not sure if I want to mount the radiator in the top of the case or the front, (only the front supports 280mm radiators) and a WD Blue 1TB later

*a lot

1: But I want that m.2 drive...

2: worse PSU (ok (as in it won't blow up) but not great)

3: I don't have $40 extra to spend...

1: Yes it does, it's just that you barely notice it (also it frees up a drive cage for future upgrade)

2: 550W is probably enough, but I want room for SLI (just have to change the MoBo) as well as OCing (won't OC much on stock, but I will when I get the water cooler) also I'm just paranoid

3: Come back later

4: I'll see if I can save up that extra $40... or $100 so that I can keep the m.2 and PSU

5: Kinda want to keep the theme with corsair products (RAM, case, PSU, keyboard, maybe LED strips? Are Corsair's RGB LED strips any good? Cablemod maybe? Hue+? Idk.

1.

2. You have to rebuy windows with changing the motherboard if its not Windows 10

3. ?

4. Again:

also SLI scaling is bad

5. Hue+ FTW

Replace the 1600 with a 1700 and you'll be golden. 1080 Ti will be too powerful for 1600 IMO.

And for the love of god, buy a 1080 and save yourself an extra ~100$. You won't regret it.

But what about 4k gaming? And 4k other things when people start supporting it? And how can I brag about having a 1080Ti when I only have a 1080? (Even though it's almost embarassing to say that you spent $2000 on a toy)

Well technically you bought the most expensive 1080 Ti, the last build I did I went with a mid-range one. The cheapest ones are a full $100 cheaper than the most expensive ones.

First off, it should suffice for 4k gaming, and secondly, why do you need to brag? A 1080 is superb as far as I'm concerned..

The Ti badge makes it more expensive and gives it a very marginal bump in performance.

Main reason is bottleneck is elsewhere when booting apps and os, so nvme isn't faster than sata then. Look at tech report reviews for a source, gtg right now hence why explanation is bad :P

Make sure to quote me or tag me when responding to me, or I might not know you replied! Examples:

And make sure you do it by hitting the quote button at the bottom left of my post, and not the one inside the editor!

Buy whatever product is best for you, not what product is "best" for the market.

Interested in computer architecture? Still in middle or high school? P.M. me!

I love computer hardware and feel free to ask me anything about that (or phones). I especially like SSDs. But please do not ask me anything about Networking, programming, command line stuff, or any relatively hard software stuff. I know next to nothing about that.

Also I'd scrap the NVMe SSD as it makes the build more expensive and is really just worthless as far as I'm concerned. Get yourself a nice 3.5" HDD and a good 2.5" SSD and you'll get more than enough performance as far as storage goes.

1: overkill is nice, even when it comes to storage (but you're both right, I should get a 1700 instead of m.2

the only good reason I want m.2 instead of 2.5" is that I can add more SSDs later, and have my OS on the fastest drive

I understand your reason, and if you can find a cheap M.2 drive that'll fit with your budget, it'll be good.

Hue+? Idk.

If you really want to do that then just go down to a 1080 if you can't afford the extra 100. By the way ti cards are almost never worth it. My biggest regret in my PC building life isn't taping an SSD to mount it, it isn't getting an XFX GPU that I had to RMA 3 times (although that's up there), it isn't getting a low end motherboard that I can't SLI with, it's definitely buying the 780 ti over the 780. Now they barely perform any differently and I payed like %50 more for it. What a tragic waste of money.
