Help Please, Issue connecting extra display

Hi, I am asking a question on behalf of my friend who is too shy to use the forum. Maybe we can convince him that this is the place to come, and everybody is friendly...  :P

He currently has:  1) an Nvidea gtx 570, running a 1080p monitor via DVI and    2) a 1080p HDTV also ADAPTED to use DVI (from HDMI).

For some reason we cannot get the tv to display any picture just by plugging it into the HDMI port on the GPU. It works just fine through an HDMI to DVI adapter.....

Any suggestions??

Thanks in advance

HDMI and DVI should be universal at resolutions below 1920x1200.

It should work fine. I do the same thing with my setup with a 7770.

Have you extended the display?

[TRUENO] i7 4770k (~4.4Ghz, 1.28v) || Thermalright Macho 120 || Asus Z87 Gryphon || 2x8Gb Mushkin Blackline|| Reference NVIDIA GTX770 || Corsair Neutron GTX 480GB || 2x3TB WD HDD || Corsair 350D || Corsair RM750

I also have the same set up on my pc (GTX 670)  I agree with you.  He has the tv working just fine if a dvi adapter is added on to the HDMI on the pc end... its strange :S

We have tried cloned display (as they are same res)

Also extended display

Still no result.
