Hey guys, So just picked up the Sapphire RX 470 OC the nice Silver one with the Almighty 10mhz overclock :P:P

So seen people getting over 1400Mhz and 2000 on ram, but with a reference cooler that could get a bit annoying, so was thinking 1300 and 1900 respectively.

Looking for guys with experience with these cards, What you rate of these or to high for a ref design ? Should I also play around with some of the voltages to get these numbers ?

Redstone:

Nobody knows.

it's the silicon lottery

try it and see what you get

BTW the RAM is not at 2Ghz. it's closer to 7Ghz

yeah factoring in the Silicon lottery, but without know how other people got there or beyond its hard to know if I'm doing well or not :P

haha oh damn thats way higher. still learning with OC'ing, interested as Jay2c said.. its free performance thats why he always benchmarks GPU's OC'd first, normally with a 980 haven't cared much as it handles everything but with the slightly weaker card, interested to get those FPS up :P

The ref cooler is a complete potato. I would see if I can even run at stock speed with the power limit maxed out first :P

If it does then go up 25mhz at a time on the core see when it crashes. Then once it does crash, set the core back to stock and do same with memory. Then once you know the max speed of both that it crashes at, go about 50mhz lower than the highest speed on both at same time then try that, if that work up one 25mhz.

That would help a lot :) even an aftermarket air cooler like arctic or gelid are really good.

checked them out, thinking WC would be a cleaner way to go if I'm going through all that effort. the Gelid ones are awesome but doesn't have RX on the list. the Arctic ones look hideous but prob are damn effective.

Will see what I can do with reference cooler, will keep a look out for some awesome WC parts
