Dead drive - what now

I know one of my drives is on its way out.

It's purely for storage and steam games.

Last night the computer is stuck on 'shutting off' and I forced the computer to shut down

Today this happened (pic) 

So what do I do now? Can I shut off the computer and pull the dead drive? Any way to keep the drive for a bit longer?

ps I did a disk check thing 2 weeks ago and Windows say it's fine

I'd say plug it into another PC and check smart status. Also transfer as much data as possible from it.

Check the smart data on the drive with crystal disk info. 

 

Could just be a weird filesystem problem and a good drive but that's unlikely.

Steam have been having some 'disk write error with it lately, so it's more than likely dead

You can just unplugge it and get a new drive.
