Only the X versions of Ryzen have the 20c offset. You're right, you shouldn't, but unfortunately Intel doesn't care about you as much as your money so they cheap out on the TIM and glue and force many of us to delid. Also i HAVE delided every i5/i7 i ever had in the last 20 or so years that i devoted to this hobby and they all ran much cooler, so it's a case of proven profit.

As to politics, being in governmental position myself for more then a decade i would ask you politely to learn to take a joke and roll with it.

:P  Apologies to OP for the arguments, but these do tend to happen more often then not, all we can do is google a bit and check the facts for yourself  :P

The "fake news" comment was sarcastic, take your own advice. All I'm saying is that ryzen out of the box is cooler than intels offerings. Just don't want a consumer getting false info if that's a selling point for them for whatever reason

Then we should both learn to specify these details so as to avoid further arguments. Sarcasm is not joking, so i can't take my own advice sadly  :)

Again apologies on my part for derailing the thread, i will leave and i wish OP many happy games with your new setup regardless of what you choose  B|

I just wanted your feedback since we have 2 (i believe ex 4790K users) and we are doing i7 vs r5/7.

I have a 4790k with an Asus Maximus Hero mobo (DDR3 RAM) and a R9 290X.

My sister wants to upgrade her PC so I have two choices.

I get an R7 1700 + Crosshair VI + Flare X 3200 RAM + MSI 1080 Gaming X+ (11Gb) and she gets my above parts OR

I get a 1080TI and get her a R5 1600 + Asus B350 Mobo + Vengeance 3200 LPX RAM and give her my GPU

Currently I game on a 144hz ASus VG27HE monitor and wont be upgrading this year whatever route I take. xD

What do you say I do ? xD
