Overwatch - High cpu usage and low gpu usage.

Go to solution Solved by c0d0ps,

Update:

My new ram stick has come (another 1x8 GB same model) so now I have dual channel ram 16 GB (2x8 GB) instead of single channel ram (1x8 GB).

Overwatch still has high cpu (around 90% to 95%) usage but gpu usage is higher now and my lowest fps is around 152 to fps on lowest settings 75% render scale. Average fps is around 200 fps. I'll do more testing and then I'll answer any questions if someone had similar problems.

So far it seems like my performance is fixed. Dual channel 2133 MHz (motherboard doesn't allow higher) ram makes a noticeable difference at 144 Hz compared to 2133 MHz single channel ram. It is also worth checking your power saving settings though.

low gpu usage and low fps (for my settings with my gpu). high cpu usage of overwatch for no reason.

well ... I did told you to go into Details, not processes, and order by CPU usage

you should also terminate MSI Afterburner and Riva Statistics

Desktop Window Manager should not be using that much CPU %, something ain't right with your Windows install

Alright I'll terminate those programs.

About the windows install it has been working fine I think. I did recently have a big update though which might be why it's different. "feature update" or something it's called. brb with picture of details.

1. You want me to do a fresh install which means that I lose all of my stuff?

2. I did not have a noticeable problem 2-4 days ago if that limits it down. I do not remember my gpu usage but I don't think my cpu usage was 100% I could have a browser+wtfast on in the background if I wanted to. But I think I closed browser for 10 fps or something.

deleting your stuff is up to you

I'd rather make back-ups for the important stuff, even blizz games can be backed and later point the blizz app to their destination

you already said you did a DDU .. so I can't exactly think of anything but an OS problem

also, the Creators Update was a shit show for a lot of people

I will most likely download the same programs that I had. Will this change anything or still good to try fresh install?

Was creators update the "feature" thing that I saw as most recent update?

Are you noticing a performance decrease?

It may be a simple case of an update using more resources.

Playable is subjective but I do have a 144hz display which means I want at least 120 fps (stable). Especially on lowest graphics on a great (optimised) game :P

I do not know exactly how the Razer shit works, heard it has to be connected online at all times

the ASUS' shit, do you absolutely need it?!

MSI Afterburner - I discovered through my own testing that this software has serious memory leaks, I stopped using it

The asus program is the only hardware monitor I have and it lets me control 0 db fan mode (on or off). Yeah I am pretty sure I need to be online and have the Razer program.

What do you mean with memory leaks because of afterburner? Did it use up a lot of ram?

Update:
I'll try one last time with ddu (safe mode) and old driver then I try fresh install if it doesn't work.
