If the OS was installed to the SSD then go into your BIOS and select the SSD as your boot device. If that does not work then you installed it to the HDD. If you want the HDD out of your system, you need to install the OS to the SSD. If you decide to leave the HDD in, then no worries either, just be sure to switch the SSD to the first Boot device.

Why would you expect it to boot to OS if you unplug both at once?
