It's not glass, but I'm also not sure what you mean by "a plastic one like all other windows laptops".  It does use a composite poly-plastic material, but it is not the older poly-vinyl like versions from old Acer netbooks and similar.  Dell uses glass composite in many of their higher end laptops, but many use the nicer composite poly.  I actually like some of the touchpads with the composite material.  What I don't like is if it is not certified as a precision touchpad, and crappy drivers are used.  It's just trash, at that point.  

 

I used to have a Dell 10v that I would get annoyed at the function of the touchpad.  I Hackintoshed it with Snow Leopard and the touchpad was one of the best I had ever used.
