So I have a AMD r7 265, it has served me well but recently I came across another one of these cards for €40,- is crossfire worth it in this instance or should I just buy a newer better gpu. Cpu is an i5 4460. I have a 550w psu so power draw is no issue.

No sell it if anyone is willing to pay money for that. I would save up for something like an rx580.

Unsure what power supply to pick?

Check out my HTPC build.

Pretty sure OP can get quite a bit of money for that. It performs 750Ti levels (not quite sure).

Bought it used for €27 a few months ago, was quite a gamble, original seller thought it was broken. It performs a lot better than the gtx750 ti , comparable to a rx 460 and is comparable to a r7 370 or when overclocked, it's a relatively unknown and unpopular card so on my local used site there are almost no listings.
