i was looking of a way where i can use the new sync softwares and have independent control of each strip cause i was thinking of leading one outside of the case and have it around the desk so do you think something like that could be possible?

Most motherboards won't be able to power much more than 1M of LEDs (this depends on the board and details on what the motherboard is capable of should be described in better detail in the manual). Having a strip going out of the case and around the desk could overload the circuit and blow the RGB controller on the motherboard. Also, if you connect multiple strips to a single header, they will not be independently controlled.

If you want to control an external strip, you could make your own with a microcontroller and off the shelf components (such as Arduino etc) and learn to solder and code. Or the simpler option would be to purchase a generic RGB strip kit designed for desks etc.

RGB headers use different pin type/gauge to fan headers, they are not physically compatible.

Depending on the power output of the motherboards RGB header it is possible to either make your own Y splitter or daisy chain the RGB strips though.

That is a shame... since in other words, useless headers should you not mind RGB aesthetics.

i used to think the same but lately rgb is really starting to grow on me and since there is going to be a header for it might as well use it ,cause it does look good and the strips are inexpensive

Buying RGB is like buying CS:GO skins, they are completely useless but if you really like your PC/Game there is no reason why not spend those few bucks ^^
