I fairly recently bought a HP laptop from the UK store argos and found that it's performance was comparable to an pentium laptop for around a 3rd the price (I did not have time to do alot of research about this) and went for it however it's been causing issues with it bricking windows, refusing to play youtube videos, pathetic battery life, and all the rest, I've had it for around 2-3 months now and it's causing me so much trouble I just want to refund the damn thing. Firstly I tried to go to argos to refund it there they said: We can't refund it because it's "not to your liking" fair enough I thought. But looking on HP's website there really isn't a way top refund a laptop just replace etc. What options do I have here?

tl;dr bought laptop store refused to refund without reference number from HP, I don't know what my options are in this situation

well.. two things:

- firstly, you just had to do more research, and realise why it was a cheap laptop

- secondly, if it has issues, have them fix them, other than saying "i want my money back" with no propper reason for them to do so.

None.

Except selling it on ebay for a loss, learning your lesson and doing a bit of research before the next buy. Sounds harsh, but the reality is pretty much like that.

Since the UK has comparable customer acts as the rest of europe (AFAIK that's one of the things they abided...), the seller has the right to repair it three times, before changing it. Complain about that stuff, get it to repair and so on, and after three times you can (normally) say, you want a new one.

Good news everyone...!
