back up storage.

I'm new to this and need as much help as I can get. Wanting to build something for back up and storage. That will automatically back 2 pcs but also store media files on it so the wife or my self can easily find it.  Build or buy doesn't matter.  I have an i5 3600 16gb ram 500 gb sSD collecting dust has windows 10 on it. If that helps.  The mother board can support 6 Sata 6gb/secs.

You could build anything to really do that job.  Using a cheap board and cheap box, throw some wd hard drives in it in software raid (either with FreeNAS or a linux distro)  and configure windows backup to the NAS.  Build or buy is hard though.  Used servers on EBAY can be great for a quick stopgap solution but can be power hungry.

(This server only has a max of 2tb drives support and raid 1 or 0  with its built in raid controller. )
