Is it okay to run a computer with just one case fan?

Go to solution Solved by stefanDB,

it depends on how much heat your PC produces, but it is most likely not a problem. a lot of prebuilts that are not very powerfull come with only one fan, and if it gets too hot your pc should protect it self and downclock or turn off.

I bought two case fans (80mm for exhaust and 120mm for intake) for my PC. I installed the 80mm exhaust one without any problems, but I can't install the 120 mm intake fan just yet because I'm having problems opening the front panel of the case (still talking with the manufacturer customer service about it). Is it safe to run the computer with just the 80mm exhaust fan and, of course, the CPU fan only? Thanks in advance!

I don't have a GPU yet and I have no intentions of overclocking as of now. :) I really hope that it won't be much of a problem 'cause it'll just be for a few days.

It will work, just make sure the fan is the back fan beside the cpu ;D.

It will be fine, just a few degree difference with a second fan because your fan is a smaller one. Heck, i'm running a 1 intake fan config too right now because i pulled 2 of my intake fans to slap it on my gpu instead.

Most PCs only have one case fan anyway, you'll be fine :)

We have a NEW and GLORIOUSER-ER-ER PSU Tier List Now. (dammit @LukeSavenije stop coming up with new ones)

sure it is, unless the pc runs to hot with one fan.

I've been doing some light browsing and downloading on my PC right now and I get about 43-44 c on the motherboard and HDD, and 44-56 c on the processor cores. Is that okay?

It's summer here and ambient temps get pretty hot. I'm planning on doing that if I want to play a few games. :) Thank you!

Yes it is fine, my computer runs at light browsing at around 55C on the CPU, but if your computer runs under load at around 80+ C you might want to consider waiting to put that other fan in before you do heavy weight tasking on your pc. And if overheating still occurs you might need a better cooler, but your pc should be fine as long as it doesn't force shutdown because of overheating or slows down to thermal throttle (but thermal throttling should be fine too actually but it is slower).

Normal temps. Which case you have and what's the trouble with front panel?

UPDATE:

I've finally managed to take off the front panel and install the intake fan. It's running now as we speak. Thank you for your responses. You've all been helpful! :)
