I installed Lubuntu (LXDE Ubuntu based Linux OS) on my x64 laptop.

After that I got a few programs installed natively (.deb) and now I want a virtual box to emulate windows XP however I am getting some errors.

Every time I turn on the computer I get an error.

When I try to run Virtual Box I get the following request:

---"""The VirtualBox Linux Kernel driver (vboxdrv) is either not loaded or there is a permission problem with /dev/vboxdrv. Please install virtualbox-dkms package and load the kernel module by executing

'modprobe vboxdrv'

as root. If it is available in your distribution, you should install the DKMS package first. This package keeps track of Linux kernel changes and recompiles the vboxdrv kernel module if necessary.

where: sublibOslnit what: 3

VERR_VM_DRIVER_NOT_INSTALLED(-1908) - The support driver is not installed. On linux, open returned ENOENT. """---

I don't know what that means so I opened the terminal and typed in "root" and installed the root software as Linux requested I install that before running root and root would not execute the command in quotes above. I tried doing sudo update. I originally installed Virtualbox by installing the .deb from the website but there was an error (I believe it to be the one I have listed above) so I asked my friend what to do so he recommended "sudo apt-get install virtualbox" nor did that work. Even yet with installing updates following.

Virtual Box also has a final error stating

"machine name" has terminated unexpectedly during startup with exit code 1 (0x1).

Result Code: NS_ERROR_FAILURE

(0x80004005)

Component: MachineWrap

Interface: IMachine {f30138d4-

e5ea-4b3a-8858-

a059de4c93fd}

I'm unsure of what to do to get this working.

I installed Oracle VM VirtualBox and clicked New. I created a Windows XP 64 bit virtual machine following the steps.

have you done this yet: sudo apt-get install virtualbox-dkms, I have virtualbox running on elementaryOS (based on Ubuntu 16.04) and I have no issues getting it to run.  I ran that command before running virtualbox

I tried running that and all the commands on the virtual box website. How would I uninstall virtualbox completely to try starting from the beginning? I'd rather not reinstall the entire computer.
