Red team build

Tasuma

Hey all! My friend's pc is getting a bit too old for his liking and he kind of tight on cash. So I am selling him my current build minus the Core 500 case, thus I need a new rig now.

This is what I'm thinking. The lack of motherboard (other for $115) is what I'm guessing on the higher end of am4 itx motherboards for once they come out. I am gonna keep the stock wraith spire since I'm not planning on over clocking and I've heard great things about it in general. The firecuda drive is because I want a drive that is quiet. I know it will be slow but I put the main games I play on my SSD anyways. Thinking about getting the 2tb version of it but unsure yet. If the itx board doesn't support m.2 I will just swap it out for a 2.5" SSD. For gpu the 570 for what I'm doing which is 1080p 60hz for triple A and 1080p 144hz for multiplayer I am quiet content with the reviews I've seen. 1500x because it is a beast of a CPU and I stream and video edit sometimes for fun. Nothing crazy. PSU because I've been using the CX750M with the green label for years and no issues but since it is going over to my buddy just picked up an inexpensive psu that I know will work fine with what I'm doing. RAM is nothing special. Any thoughts? Trying to keep it under or around $750. I have a little wiggle room but not too much.

Get faster RAM with 1x16GB.

Get the MX300.

Why do you need a FireCuda?

Go for the 580/480 4 or 8GB.

Seasonic MXXXX (don't know) is 500W and better quality.

I haven't had issues with 8gb and if i need more I can always pick it up later.

FireCuda I've heard is quiet and still can pull up processes that I need to keep on HDD faster but could just grab a red. I like my system quiet.

I don't want a 580/480

I go over budget a bit too much, I've had 0 issues with my CX serious psu.

Why not go for a Barracuda or Deskstar? You should be going for a 3.5" HDD.

How reliable are they? I'm open to new brands.

I haven't had many Hitachi (sub of WD) or Seagate drives fail. Just letting you know that you have a 2.5" 5400RPM FireCuda is all.

You'll usually see an improvement when using 3.5" over 2.5" when it comes to heat and controller output.

SP550 seems to be very mediocre http://www.anandtech.com/Show/Index/10131?cPage=2&all=False&sort=0&page=4&slug=the-adata-premier-sp550-ssd-review

As arikozum said, get a 3.5" HDD instead. WD Blue, Seagate Barracuda and some Hitachi or HGST are all good choices

1080p 60hz with a 570 won't cut it, especially AAA.

Crysis 3 - 1920x1080 - Very High Quality + FXAAThe Witcher 3 - 1920x1080 - Ultra Quality (No Hairworks)

You listed two games that I don't play to prove that it won't run it on ultra. I don't mind running games on high to get a solid 60 fps.  I have a WD blue just too loud for me. Might sound dumb but where I have my PC in college is near my head so gets annoying and for the 3.5" I have some clearance issues in my case if/when I decide to get a large cpu cooler.

Get a WD Green then, I doubt Firecuda is anywhere quieter than Barracuda or WD Blue

And the only problem the CPU cooler gets is RAM. No way a HDD gets close

The HDD next to the cpu cooler can cause clearance issues in the core 500.

You might consider getting the 2.5" version of the ssd. There is no performance difference as both the M.2 and 2.5" versions use a SATA III interface. Most mini-ITX motherboards have the M.2 mounted on the underside. This can lead to cooling issues.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.

I will pick one depending on the board. Since they haven't released any Mitx am4 boards yet. If it is on the bottom I will just pick up a 2.5". =)
