Posted April 18, 2017 I just purchased a Mamba Monster 2 with a 2200Kv motor for my losi 8ight 3.0 e. I am wondering what is the optimal gearing is for 4S-2S lipo use. I was thinking 19T or maybe even 23T. Posted April 18, 2017 depends on the spacing doesn't it, haven't got much experience with RC cars but I do engineering at uni and gears gears gears galore. As long as the modulus of the gear is the same it should mesh correctly. so say the shafts are 25mm apart you'd want something like a 15T gear and a 35T gear. Are they both spur gears? I think you are thinking too practical. It isn't a question of meshing as the motor mount is fully adjustable so you can stick a 9T pinion in or a 33T pinion. The question is more of what can the ESC and motor take. Obviously a larger pinion and small spur will give higher top speeds and lower torque but now days brushless motors have so much torque it's more a question of over heating and what speed do you want.
