Sound Proofing

Yo people

 

I'm in the middle of re-doing my office/gaming room .

 

I'm thinking of sound proofing the door which is 80 inches by 36 inch or , 203 cm by 91 cm.

 

What would be the best way of doing this and any tips on buying sound pads.

I'd just buy a huge sheet of sound proofing foam and cut it out. It's cheap and should work fine.

you basically have to make a room within your room, it is not going to be cheap or fast

Have a lip around the door so it makes a solid seal and there is no gaps around the edges, kind of like a fridge door.

Two different goals that require different approaches.

Ultimately replace the door with a solid, heavy door. The more dense the door is the lest sound will pass through it. As well, make sure the frame sticks up from the floor so that there's no air gap at the bottom. Once you have a solid, heavy door that's most likely all you can do. Putting thicker weather stripping can help a tiny bit, but ultimately the weight and density will do the most. Removing the air gap at the bottom can help as well.

Helps high frequency reflections only, doesn't actually do anything for sound proofing.
