GTX 1070 Bottleneck?

Hey, my current system has a GTX 1070 FTW with an i5 6400 on a B250 mATX motherboard and 8gb of ram.

 

Its not really running like all the benchmarks in the world. I only have like 23 background processes in Task Manager, and I regularly scan for viruses (on my SARDU USB stick).

 

So I don't think its a software issue, I think its a bottleneck with the GPU and CPU. Or maybe my motherboard.

in what way is it not performing well. Like what games and what fps do you get in them. Also, run your most intensive game/benchmark, and see which has the highest usage and how much ram you have used

It would be helpful to have some numbers you're getting vs. numbers other people are getting and also what you're using as a comparison. If you're trying to compare your GTX 1070's performance to say what website reviewers are getting, then you need to take the comparison as a general guideline because they're running top of the line processors.

You should easily get 60FPS at 1080p and 1440p, the only bottleneck you should see is not enough FPS for 144Hz+ gaming in some games. So what exactly is your issue?

Full specs? OS? What have you tried to alleviate the issue?

An i5 6400 does bottleneck a gtx1070 in most games especially at 1080p but a good way to check if its the cpu is to run a synthetic test like heaven benchmark which uses very little cpu, if you don't get a similar score to other benchmarks in heaven benchmark then it would be something other than your cpu. Your motherboard should not affect performance.
