Hi All,

First post, long time stalker of the forums.

I am am looking to up grade my PC to play better games such as Battlefield 1 etc at 1080p. I am also looking and some light content creating video editing and small animation. I currently run this:

Intel Pentium Anniversary edition overclocked to 4 ghz

8 GB DDR 3 memory

GTX 750

on a Asus BM85 motherboard and Nero 3 cooler. With a 500w power supply.

I am am looking to upgrade to the Ryzan 5 1600 with a GTX 1060 as I have about £500 to spend. Would this work with the Motherboard and power supply I currently have? Or if there is a cheaper way of achieveing this that would be great.

different socket, so you would need to buy new ddr4 ram and motherboard and if you could specify your power supply would help

what i suggest is to get a 4th gen used i5 with 1060 and it would run perfectly

If you go for Ryzen you probably wont be able to use your old cooler as well.

Thanks all, it sounds like it is going to be a complete revamp really rather than a few small upgrades.

The power supply is Aerocool Premium 500w power supply.

To to be fair the part picker list from @Bidon doesn't look too terrible. For what I would get on my lower budget. The other option is to slowly get all the parts in.

Stupid I'd question but do different motherboards only fit certain CPU's? I.e. Some only intel etc. I don't want to be stuck in the same position again.

depeding on the socket, if the socket is the same, usually it works but for example, intel 7th gen processors won't work on H110 even if they are the same socket unless they get a bios update, otherwise they just wont work

Thanks @Blackhole890 that makes sense. I'll have to take a look at motherboards more closely. I will need to up my budget as well. I think £600 - 700 should do it.
