I heard intel is releasing some really nice 6 core processers for mainstream next year/end of this year. I'm definitely going to wait to buy a CPU for that, but would I be fine with buying a high end motherboard now or should I wait until the new cpus?

Also, what motheboard should I buy with these requirements:

NVMe M.2 support

I game alot, and watch youtube, skype,

want the best mobo i can get, price isnt too big of a problem

They are rumored to use different chipset so any X99 intel mobo you buy now might not be compatible with next gen x299

Oh wow ok. Any timeframe on when they will come out? I'm currently working with a 5 year old dell motherboard and I really just want to get rid of it lol, but I might have to wait

If you want your socket type to be more future-proof, you're better off with AMD honestly...they keep their sockets for a long time.

Rumored to be sometime this summer.

Where are the rumors? Not doubting you its just that I'm trying to research and cant find anything lol

Well, there was the recent WAN show topic, and if you do a search for x299 release date you'll see a number of articles quoting rumors from June to August of this year...however, nothing confirming it on Intel's site.
