Current PC build:

  • AMD Phenom II 1090T Black Edition w/Corsair H60 v1.0 (known as the space heater)
  • MSI 990FXA-GD80
  • Corsair Vengence 16GB DDR3 1600
  • XFX 5850 1GB
  • 250GB OCZ ARC100

This was built back in 2011, the GPU has been hanging round......for a while (2009 / 10 maybe).....it has done incredibly well, put the SSD in a few years back and I can run most of the games I want but with lower settings to keep it to an acceptable frame rate.

But it is time for an update, just spec'd up a new rig and its a big ass upgrade and I am going Intel / nVidia after 12 years of being AMD / ATi, I'd welcome some feedback.

  • Intel i7-7700K w/Corsair H110i
  • Asus Intel ROG STRIX Z270E GAMING
  • Corsair Vengence 16GB DDR4 3200
  • Asus GeForce GTX 1060 STRIX GAMING 6GB
  • Corsair RM550x High Performance Power Supply (decided modular)
  • Acer RT280K 4K Monitor
  • PRICE: £1400

Going to keep the 250GB OCZ as my primary drive, I am still deciding on whether to replace the case or keep my Coolermaster CM 690 II Advanced Case.

Note: I have considered putting a new AMD FX-8350 and GTX 1060 in my existing rig to edge some more life out of it, this is about £400.

Really unbalanced CPU / GPU combo, especially with the monitor you're going with. I'd rather take i5/R5 and GTX 1070.

I'd say get a 1600 instead and use the extra for a 1070.

Thanks @Jrock the 1070 is probably just affordable, it about £140 more...

Not sure if you are being sarcastic or not, but the 1070 and an i5/r5 will perform better than the i7 and a 1060
