Lol, even my Titans in SLI aren't enough to maintain 60 FPS in Crysis 3 fully maxed at 1440p.  Generally I agree with your sentiment that few games are really capable of bringing the current gen high end hardware to its knees but there are still some games that do...

I bet 90% are ;)

It has been said many times on our forum: Just because you're stubborn doesn't mean you're right. I have a 560 ti 448 and play bf4 on low sometimes because I want my framerates to go above 100fps because my monitor can support it, even if it's 1920x1080. And I can run the game on high settings, some settings like mesh quality, effects quality, lighting and other on ultra, but with disabled AA, ambient oclustion, and textures on high/medium... This DOES NOT mean I play on ULTRA nor ALMOST ULTRA. If you need more info on what I currently run here are my specs: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/25097-new-rig-after-5-years/?p=1139949 as I arrogantly suppose your specs are inferior which implies your PC with the 560 ti inside can't deliver better performance.

Now I understand you love a good deal like the next guy, I accually have the money to get the 780 or 290x but I have a 280x on standby because I don't want to waste my money because "I" don't need it right now, or for the next year or so. But just because I don't need it it doesn't mean other people don't, everyone has his preferences and needs. What you're implying is that GPU companies are screwing us over by selling us hardware no gamer needs (or 90% of PC gamers, I said gamers not PC users, as these are enthusiast-grade products designed for people who take their gaming seriously) at unjustifyable prices. So you're implying that milions of people are idiots and you, with select few people like you are the only ones that have figured it out. I approve of your notion that you got a good deal and it's a good thing, we all like to save money where we can, hence my 280x plan, but to imply the above is just ignorant, and a bit cheeky.

IMO the graphic card companies continuously produce better cards not because they want to screw people over, but because its a step forward to a better experience which is pretty much what drives us enthusiast and the industry as well.

It is correct that it is not a necessity to buy high-end cards, majority of people don't need them as well. These cards are for people who appreciate the experience that they get from it. If it doesn't hurt you spending that much then why not? people spending on stuff that they are passionate about is normal.

If OP does not get why people do buy these stuff it does not mean you should criticize people from doing so (until it's doing something bad for them, but still its something they chose to do). Everyone has a passion about something in life, respect that.

=====

This is true but the games that are out B4 was said to need big bucks cards and this is the latest title , so why would I spend on 780ti ?

All for progress myself but 670 for £170 is the sweet spot sorry

Maybe I should buy a PS4 hahaha
