Linus I would like to build a computer for my dad without braking the bank he loves playing command and conquer and that is the reason I want to build him one so we can play it together ....in the past when we played the game once we got too many troops on the map the game would slow down dramatically so my question is. what parts would I need so that wouldn't happen? please help.

Command and conquer is a pretty old game, any current gen harware can run that no problem. What's your budget? Planning on playing any modern titles in the near future?

You could get an Intel G4560 with a 1050, or an AMD RX 460, that would be more then enough. Throw in 8GB RAM, and a small SSD for the OS and you'll have a nice budget system for light gaming and everyday use.

A Ryzen 5 1400 or an i3 would be overkill, but nothing wrong  with those parts if you don't mind spending more though.

Does you mum know you're here?

If games similar to command and conquer are the only ones he plays, then you can save the most money by buying an APU from AMD. I suggest the A-10 7800 since it belongs to the newest generation of APUs and also has the lowest TDP among its brothers.

The graphics packed into the 7800 is decent (better than intel's integrated ones at least) and you can upgrade it with an independent graphics card later on if needed since the CPU is good enough to be reused.

The price for this CPU is around 230 USD new in Amazon (probably lower in other websits/shops), so 600 USD is more than enough to finish an entire machine

I Hurd pentium wasn't any good

Well the G4560 supports hyperthreading and has fairly high clockspeeds

That does mean it is the best value option right now (almost as powerful as last years i3 6100)

i5 6500 @3.2Ghz, Zotac GTX 1080 Ti Mini, 16GB DDR4 @2400Mhz, 240GB SSD, 1TB HDD, Corsair Vengance 650W, Asus Z170 Pro Gaming, Thermaltake Versa U21, Hyper 103

AOC Agon AG271UG 27" 4k G-Sync, G933, G502, G801
