Windiws 10 installation

Go to solution Solved by lordi,

Yer - i would do a redirect of your profile folders to your 1TB and keep OS on M.2 - or run disk clean up and empty your downloads folder it surprising how much junk accumulates!!

http://geekbeat.tv/redirecting-windows-user-profile-data-different-location/

When I first got my PC, i installed windows 10 in the 32gb m.2 for the fast bootup, but now I am having storage issues and would like to now install the OS to my 1tb wd hdd. How should I do it?

Should I install the os to a partition on the hdd via a usb, choose the hss as boot drive and delete the os on the m.2?

If yes, how do I delete the os from the m.2?

Thanks for the guidance.

Just move all your stuff (Pics, Videos, Games, Documents) to the 1TB drive, and keep the OS on the M.2 to keep the quick boot.

As other's have said, no need to delete the OS, just move the user files and Program Files to the HDD. @lordi link is a great tutorial to move the user folders!

The whole point of an M.2 drive is to install the OS on it so that the PC is fast and responsive.

Don't move Program Files. Just install your software to your HDD instead. Usually you need to click on "Custom" or "Advanced" in program setups to access the option where you can say where you want it to install.

Moving Program Files is only asking for trouble. It is isn't supported by Windows, even though you can do it.

Moving Document, Music, Pictures, etc... folder is supported, and will not cause problems.

To move an installed program, uninstall it first, and re-install it at the new location.

Same for Temp folder, and any folder that has dependencies upon. Basically, don't assume that every software and game are properly coded. Many of them contain rushed out code to meet deadlines, parts done by junior developer that haven't been checked or properly checked, or the devs never bothered reading Windows documentation in knowing how to do things properly.
