Hi, all. I have seen a lot of videos now using 1% & 0.1% Lows for their graphs. But I still don't really understand what it means.

 

I get that low, average and max fps is not the best way to show fps. And also that it is better to have frames that are more consistent within frame timings or it will look like it is lagging or stuttering but I am still confused about it.

 

Wondering if someone can help me out understand it more. Thanks

if you sort all framerates from a test from top to bottom, the average of the bottom 1% of framerates is the 1% low, same goes for 0.1%

this is to illustrate if a game only dropped to low FPS for a split second, or if this was a regular occurance :) (1% is not really that regular but it does mean that the bad fps wasnt a small anomaly)
