Xbone is on its last leg finally. Building a media pc to replace it. The last 2 Blu-ray rw internal drives I've purchased haven't been able to play most of my Blu-ray movies. Not a huge issue as they rip and go onto the server just fine but that won't cut it for an Xbox replacement when my wife wants to pop in a Redbox. Any suggestions?

Also, any suggestions on software  (like media portal maybe) and a remote? Want to mimic the Xbox as much as possible minus gaming in terms of simplicity.

Get a good HTPC case, they sometimes come with remotes and ir blasters.

Alternatively get a PC Xbone controller sensor and use the Xbone controller for it

Kodi (kodi.tv) is a very solid media center program, I've been using it for a couple years connected to my home server and it works fine. Works really well with physical media and has add-ons for YouTube and other sites if you don't feel like watching a movie.

This seems like a good option, has good reviews, check Amazon.

I agree that kodi.tv is a good option. It also futures native remote control support as well, you should actually be able to control it with an xbox controller.

if your looking for a more traditional remote, something like this should work - LINK

You should also be able to control it from your phone using the web interface

Thanks for the info. I'll dig into Kodi and probably keep an Xbox controller around to save a few bucks.
