1080 vs. 1080 Ti for 1440p

Versus a $550 1080 I would probably get the 1080 Ti, considering you'd be paying 27% more for 28% more performance at 1440p with both at reference clocks (according to the techpowerup benchmark in the 1080 Ti review). But why do you want a $550 GTX 1080 when there are lots of good 1080s for $500? At that point the 1080 Ti is 40% more expensive for 28% more performance.

Wow, good on you for finding this. I was only looking on Amazon and Newegg, and the cheapest I saw was about $780 at best.

hummm...it's a bit blurier but it does run a hell of a lot faster...doesnt look bad honestly...at least at 2560x1440 it does not...if i turn this option off i need to start messing with other settings instead.

 

Here the full settings i use at 1440p, i get around 90FPS average and never go bellow 80FPS...you probably get a locked 144FPS if you use these with 2 cards, but honestly the game still look amazing...the blur, DOF and san fransisco fog i disabled because IMHO it just looks bad:

Actually I get the same fps with out temporal filtering and I can't test with because it is disabled for sli

In my opinion, it depends on the refresh rate of your display. If your planning on using it on a 60hz - 75hz display, 1080 is more than sufficient, but if it's 120hz or higher i recommend the 1080ti because you'll get more frames with less or even no screen tearing, thus allowing for a more responsive and smoother gaming experience. A G-SYNC monitor is something I recommend since I use it and gaming on it is awesome.

I appreciate the help, but since this post, I bought a 1080 Ti & a 1440p G-Sync display about 7 months ago lol
