I personally think your phone will work as long as the network your phone have is supported by the provider you chose whilst you're there.

I've heard something similar to this, but I remember reading somewhere that it isn't true >_<

Hello guys, I'm planning on visiting Japan within the next month or so to get an idea on what its like over there (because I plan on moving to japan soon)

I'm planning on visiting my pen pal and rooming with them for about a month, I've heard that most normal phones don't work in japan due to the GHz frequencies.

I was wondering if I could use my iPhone (by just switching the keyboard layout/language settings) to japanese (to save me 7,000 yen) on a new phone. I plan on buying a cheap pre-paid phone for when I visit (because I'm going to be over there for about a month) so a pre-paid phone would be fine for me.

If a iPhone doesn't work in Japan can someone please suggest me a good digital phone with a good camera? I might get a more expensive 20,000 yen phone to have over there permanently.

ありがとう!in advance!

If it doesnt work just get a camera that will work all over the world O.o

Also im guessing the rates would be redicilous for a phonecall over that distance,.

I'm wanting to get a camera phone (Because I have some buddies over in japan) and we're going to be hanging out for the first time, and I usually take photos of my friends and I while we're all hanging out.

True, but I'd rather not haul over my Canon T3i and it possibly getting lost in the luggage at the airport (like my last camera) >_<

Plus it'd wouldn't take up a lot of my carry on space. (I'm planning on going over there by airplane) Not by boat.
