so my board juat died on my system.

specs

4690k

8gb ram

gigabyte z97x gaming 5 (dead board)

gtx1070

240gb ssd + 2 1tb hdd in RAID 0

550w evga GS psu

is it worth replacing the board. i cant really find any tho unless there second hand or from some dodgy amazon/ebay seller.

if i was to get a new system i would keep the PSU, drives, case and GPU but it would cost about £450 for a new system.

i could sell the old CPU ram and disk drive for about 150 MAX and would knock my total down to 300.

what should i do???

Sorry was just asking as could have been a cause of the board dying, Personally I'd say save your money and just get a new motherboard as the 4690k has loads of life left in it!

it wont post, ive tried everything and have gotten no where. so last night i has having issues like windows crashing when enabling RAID in my BIOS and other thing like my bios version changing every time i booted to the bios. this morning it kept power cycling and didnt once boot. i had windows working on it about an hour ago and now it keeps power cycling again and doing nothing is happening now. The fans spin up and thats it. i dont even get a post screen or beeps. i have tried clearing the CMOS and have taken the battery out the board, leaving it for an hour to drain the capacitors and installed a brand new battery and it does not do anything. (i should of said non posting in my original post)

Instead of going to a new system just yet, I would strip the PC down to the bare minimum hardware, so that there's in theory less to foul it up. Rest CMOS again, no need for extremes like an hour, just turn the PC off, turn the PSU off at the switch and then press and hold the PC power button (that will discharge the capacitors), then open it up and take out the battery, a minute is fine, then pop it back in.

Try to POST again, if still no luck, if you have another PC or laptop you could make a live ubuntu USB, this could be useful for other testing purposes. I can try to help you if you like? we may not get to the bottom of it, but we'll have a bloody good go.

If you really want another PC, then that's OK.. it's a tough call on whether to get another mobo/CPU, you might also need new ram if going that route, so could be costly... I would try and find another board if you don't have a lot of money, ram prices alone have gone up over £30 since I got my new ram 5 months ago, so roughly around 33% rise... for 16GB (2*8GB) DDR4 3000/3200Mhz is over £120 now.
