@Princess Cadence

The link I showed also did gaming benchmarks check that. It's IPC not number of cores, i7 3770 is old and offer no upgrade path.

You don't judge performance by threads or cores, else you should go with FX 8350

I'm not judging solely on cores/threads.they have the same single core performance but in multi  core the i7 has a %30 lead, easily making up for the %10 faster i5 quad core speed.

i7vi5.PNG.9399ddf93d5ddc9ce1e0fed608ac8f31.PNG

It wins two of the benchmarks by a landslide and ties or is very close in the rest

The i7 has 8mb of cache to the i5's 6mb

Can't find any info on IPC

Did you check the benchmarks I linked and the BF1 results too? Cause that's how it works in real life, he asked for gaming not for userbenchmark

snipped due to userbenchmark

I wouldn't rely too heavily on Userbenchmark since some of those benches do excessively poorly or well leading to skewed results.

The game benchmarks support me as well.  The i7 is consistent neck and neck with i5 in games but does better in some situations where the extra cores are really useful.  The artificial benches are really bad for 3770 but the games speak for themselves
