So I finished building my first PC a couple days ago. Building was pretty straightforward. Now that my system is up and running, I was wondering if these temperatures are normal.

Here is the build: https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/t9qgNN

I had a couple concerns when I was putting everything together:

When I was seating the kraken on top of the processor, I couldn't align the mounting holes with the standoffs correctly the first time. I had to pick up the kraken and reseat it. But before I did that, I noticed some of the thermal compound was already smudged on top of the processor. Is this a big deal? I looked for leaks/drips around the edges afterwards but there weren't any.

When I was unboxing my processor (brand new), I noticed some minor gunk on the top of the processor. (The side that faces up when you install it, and makes contact with the cpu cooler) It wasn't a lot of gunk, but it looked like there may have been a sticker on top of it or something. Very very minor, but I probably should have cleaned it with ispropyl, right? Or is this normal?

Temperatures at idle (sitting on desktop with only temp monitoring software running)

CPU: 27-35

Kraken Liquid: 25-28

Temperatures when doing light tasks (5 Browser tabs, Spotify, temp monitoring software)

CPU: 45-60

Kraken Liquid: 28-31

Temperatures at load (Intel Extreme Tuning Utility Stress Test)

CPU: 75-85

Kraken Liquid: 31-32

*All temps in Celsius

*Ambient temperature about 20 Celsius

*Running stock with no overclocking (only xmp enabled to get 3000MHz ram)

*Running the performance setting in the NZXT CAM software

When I load up windows, temps can get as high as 80 Celsius. I believe this is because the NZXT CAM software is loading up. Once that fully loads, temps quickly go back to normal.

Even when I just open up a browser tab or windows explorer, the temps spike up 10-20 degrees. I don't understand how these spikes are normal..

I am worried about my load temps. From what I have been reading, people with similar setups don't go past 60 Celsius on load..

So I cleaned everything up with the ArctiClean 1&2 stuff, applied some Arctic MX-4, Reseated and now the temps are about 5-7 degrees lower.

Idles at about 24-30

Light tasks about 38-53

Intel Extreme Tuning Utility test Load about 75-78

Prime 95 Load about 86-91+

I've also tried Prime 95 for the first time, (Small FFTs test) and wow this thing brought my CPU up to 90C+ in under 3 minutes. I think there is something still wrong. I don't know where to go from here. I can probably exchange this processor for a new one but I only have a couple days left in my return window..

Any advice?
