Hi guys so i got into the Pc master race game as a broke guy, so far what i've been able to build this computer from the spare parts i found and i bought the Gpu today. I was wondering if my Pc will be future proof for at least a few years.

Here are the specs:

CPU: Intel Xeon CPU E5-1620 v2 @ 3.70 Ghz Boost up to 3.90Ghz

http://ark.intel.com/products/75779/Intel-Xeon-Processor-E5-1620-v2-10M-Cache-3_70-GHz

GPU: GTX 1060 6GB Asus Dual Fan White

RAM: Samsung 8x2 16 GB 1600 Mhz

Motheboard: Asus P9X79 PRO LGA 2011

Case: Antec 300 Case with 4 Fans

Power Supply: 80+ Bronze Corsair 650 Watt

SSD: Intel 250 GB

HDD: 2TB Western Digital

I built this thing entirely from parts i could snatch from my friends for free except the GPU, I built this thing entirely myself and i know not much about it since it might be a potate and waste of effort and time. So i was wondering if you guys think it will be enough for a while. I was an Xbox One gamer but since i saw a friends 1080ti pc with 6700k i7 i kinda lost the interest in consoles entirely xD

Have a good day //Sam

I don't see any major issues with this setup. Of course, running a locked Xeon on an X79 board is a bit of a waste in terms of the OC capabilities of the board. But getting an X79 compatible i7 Extreme CPU is probably not worth the cost, and in gaming likely wouldn't provide much benefit anyway.

"Futureproof" is a stupid word to begin with, since we have no idea what the future will bring. But I think this PC is probably fine for 2-3 years, if not more. You may eventually want to upgrade the GPU further, and possibly the CPU eventually too, depending on your needs. But both of those upgrades can wait at least 2 years.
