Hey guys,

its ts time to finally upgrade and build my own PC. I've never built my own computer before and all previous computer have just been store bought. None of them have really been gaming computers either.

I have put together a list of parts that I think I need for the build but am not 100% sure if there is something better for the money.

The areas that I'm not sure are are the motherboard and graphics card. Also have a m.2 drive in there for boot drive but not sure if that's actually going to make a big difference and I should be spending money elsewhere instead.

Will most likely be purchasing all parts from PC case gear as they are not far from where I live here in Aus. Looking to spend around 3k for the entire setup and it would be used for gaming for myself and graphic design for my partner.

let me know what you think if I'm on the right track or if I've completely screwed it up.

cheers

You have a Freesync monitor and an Nvidia gpu.

I would also agree with the nvme ssd. Just go with the Crucial and maybe add a HDD for extra storage.

Maybe get a better psu. The CS isn't awful but I would get something better. The Corsair TX might be a better bet for less as it also has a 7 year warranty, or the RMx 550W which has 10 years.

Ok thanks for the replies. I have changed out the power supply, removed the nvme drive and changed graphics card to a 1080.

Now to be totally honest in choosing graphics card I just chose some midish range. At this stage I'm not to familiar with what clock speeds etc are any good. I do plan on getting to know everything and look at overclocking this PC when I have the knowledge to safely do so.

thanks for the info on the display. I have currently removed that. It was more a place holder as I'm not 100% set on what to get.  I do also have a 1tb HDD that will be going on for storage of documents and the likes.
