Hello.

I responded to a comment on a video of Linus's videos where he benched (with cinebench r15) a 6900k, the score was higher than my 6900k, google has confirmed that most 6900k cpus be above 1500 score on R15.

My CPU never goes above 1350 score, I think it has to do with my turbo boost because in a youtube video I found task manager reported a speed of 3.7ghz, according to CPUz only one or two cores reaches 3.7ghz but only on very low loads, but using cinebench the max is 3.5ghz.  the cpu temps are about 30'c so theres plenty of play for turbo boost.

my immediate thoughts were to check bios for ITBT 2 which was ENABLED.

I am at a loss, I have recognised my CPU to ALWAYS run at 3.5ghz as standard.

If turbo boost isnt to blame and this is normal then why the heck am I only getting 1350 score when every one else is getting a lot more

thanks in advance

neither was linus's video when he compared the 6900k with the amd ryzen. the google results and this guy show higher than  mine

Turbo boost only boosts two or so cores to the stated boost speed. I'd recommend that you lock all cores to 3 . whatever GHz as turbo boost (CPU) is pointless for any enthusiast.

Plus it depends on what you have open it the background, RAM speed all sorts.

I generally overclock to 4.2GHz with auto voltage, but i dont understand why other people's 6900k shows better results.

ive got dominator 32gb 2666 (running at 2133 15, 17, 17, 35) ive tried 2000 16, 18, 18 35 1T but it doesnt make a difference in R15.

I've noticed that core #7 is used the most when gaming.,.. is there a way to just lock this core to 4.2 instead of all cores?

auto volts? It's probably giving it more than it needs and throttling back. The extra heat is not fun.

RAM is also pretty slow as far as speed/CAS is concerned. Keep it at XMP speed. 2000 C16 is ridiculously slow as is 2133 C15. RAM speed makes a difference in R15.

As far as i'm aware core locking isn't a thing and it really doesn't matter at all. Why would you want to use a single core from an eight core processor? Doesn't make sense.

i mean auto volts when overclocking, i dont set custom volts to higher than 1.248v, I wanted to overclock a single core because I've heard u can push it further on a single core than multiple cores, if I can get 4.4ghz on core 7 which is where my games run

Keep it on custom volts as you call it.

You can go further on a single core but it's pointless. There's no guarantee that every game ever will always use that particular core.

Just sync them all to x speed at y volts and be happy. Set RAM to XMP speed and see what's up.

I'll try XMP ram profiles, but im a little confused because don't I have to overclock BCLK to set my ram to 2666?  im a little new when it comes to overclocking ram

You should be good with the 100MHz strap although you may need to use the 125MHz strap. Things are quite funky with RAM on X99.
