I got the last part of my storage server today, 2720SGL and slapped it into the rig and connected 6 3TB drives in JBOD.

The drives appear in windows as they should after the drivers are installed and all seems okay as can be seen here.

I attempted to create a storage pool and again, the drives show up as they should;

However on EVERY attempt I get the following error;

I'm not exactly sure what to do as I can format the drives individually and have them show up in explorer, I can even create a spanned volume using all the disks but they REFUSE to go into a pool.

Windows will only put Disk 0 into the pool. Before installing Windows 8.1 I tried to use Windows Server 2012 and it would only show Disk 0 under logical devices, hence trying Windows 8.1 which I thought would work since I could see all the drives.

EDIT: I gave the free version of unRaid a go and it all seemed to work okay, the only problem I have with this is that I have read that storage spaces is more flexible with adding drives and obviously I will be able to use Windows on the machine with storage spaces which is a plus as I can do more things than just serve files.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated, I don't think it's the RAID card as I seem to be able to do everything else with it so I'm not sure what gives.

Thanks, peeps :D

my guess would be that they're not all connected to the same sata controller....

hmm did you turn them into dynamic disks first?

Edit:  I just looked at the image.  Right click and turn them into dynamic drives or whatever I cannot remember.  Then it should work.

Thanks this is one thing I didn't try which I shall give a go when I go home, why was disk 0_0 going into a pool as it wasn't set as dynamic though?

I hope it does work as I don't have the patience to return the card, get another and just be stuck with this issue.

It's worth noting that I have tried Powershell and creating a pool with 0_0 and then attempting to add disks, both failed.
