How do you usually troubleshoot AHCI mode?

KTsarlz

I just had this problem, when I got my ssd, I reinstalled my OS with AHCI mode enabled in the BIOS. I am using Windows 10 64bit. However fast forward couple of weeks, even if I set my bios to sata or ahci, my OS does boot, but in device manager I can't see the AHCI controller or in Samsung Magician it says undetected in interface and deactivated in ahci mode. I haven't touch drivers since the fresh install too.

a shot of the Device Manager would help, with AHCI mode enabled in BIOS

This is what I see on my desktop, in BIOS, sata configuration, mode is set to AHCI..

you should try a fresh windows install and make sure the PCH is set in AHCI mode

it also would not hurt to check for a BIOS update

I was pretty sure before I reinstall my current OS that in BIOS it is in AHCI mode.. Prior to that I had it on IDE and did the regedit safemode path to make work the newly cloned ssd.. As for the bios, this is an old mobo with a 1155 socket so I'm not sure about bios updates and would it be safe
